Events: Rural Day & Scruffs

Countryside awareness and a gorgeous dog show – inclusive of all woofers.

Fun outside for all the family can be a difficult balancing act, which is why it’s always a delight when Brighton and Hove present us with such treats as Rural Day & Scruffs Dog Show – raising awareness of the environment, as well as offering those all-important activities to keep the kids active and distracted.

This year’s attractions include 24 market stalls, including conservation and charity information, handcrafts, artist cards, a tombola, children’s clothes, fruit, herbs, and children’s books.

Also this year, there’ll be a retro van with frozen desserts, and a tea tent for drinks and some truly scrummy home made cakes.

Willowisp, the family and children’s area, will be making crafty things and also offering ‘have a go’felt-making and mosaics, plus an eco puppet show too.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s also an area for petting guide dogs, chickens and bugs.

And, of course, the totally barking Scruffs Dog Show with rosettes (courtesy of Animal Welfare team), prizes (courtesy of Snaffles bisquits), flowers (courtesy of Kate Langdale) and a trophy (courtesy of Brices). Plus a Dog Behaviour demo, children’s games, and Mid Sussex brass band … all with deck chairs. What a day out!

Rural Day & Scruffs, Sunday 10 August, St Ann’s Well Gardens, 12–6pm, brunswickfestival.org.uk
