Stage: Cat on a hot tin roof
Tennessee Williams’ iconic play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is now in rehearsal at Burgess Hill Theatre Club, following the huge success of A Streetcar Named Desire last year. The last production won a number of awards, including Best Actress, Best Director, and an award for Excellence.
The autumn production, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, is a Pulitzer prize-winner and is said to be the playwright’s favourite.
Director John O’Connor explained: “There are significantly more characters in this play, giving us the opportunity to explore more deeply the themes of human interaction and communication”.
The cast is now in rehearsals, and includes Pollyanna Hollebon taking on the role of iconic leading lady, Maggie, made famous in the film starring Elizabeth Taylor.
Other cast members include long standing theatre club members Jacky Hilary, Samantha Payne, Stephen Payne and Chesney Jones, as well as new members Phil Hawkins, Sean Lusk, and Malcolm Stephens. The Club is keen for its junior members to have experience of productions and this play also sees Maddy Burton and Nyah Payne as junior members of the cast.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is showing at Burgess Hill Theatre Club, Church Walk, from Wednesday 15th October to Saturday 18th October 2014. The box office will open in September.
