Brighton businesses celebrate parking charge u-turn

When parking charges were introduced in one Brighton street little did traders know it would cost them thousands of pounds in just a few weeks.

But thats what shop keepers in Matlock Road are claiming the £1 an hour charge is doing.

The restrictions were introduced in May as an extension to zone E.

But traders have claimed the new charge is pushing customers further out of town were parking is free.

After gaining the support of ward councillors, traders have claimed Brighton and hove CIty Council will look again at the charges at town hall meeting in October.
