Open day cancelled at Preston Circus Fire Station in Brighton
An open day at Preston Circus Fire Station in Brighton on Saturday (16 August) has been cancelled.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) Open Day that had been planned for 16 August has been cancelled.”
The Preston Circus Station Manager Richard Chamberlain said: “Open days are a great opportunity for visitors to learn about fire safety, meet firefighters and have fun.
“It is unfortunate this year’s open day at Preston Circus has had to be cancelled.
“However, we welcome the support we receive from the public at these events and will keep you informed of any new dates.”
Saturday is the final day of eight days of consecutive strikes by the Fire Brigade’s Union in a long-running national dispute with the government over pensions.
Strikes are taking place each day from Saturday 9 August until Saturday 16 August, between noon and 2pm and between 10.59pm and 11.59pm.
The 999 Fun Day on Hove Lawns on Sunday (10 August) was also cancelled because of the weather.
