Brighton and Hove fire crews end eight days of strike action tonight
Brighton and Hove firefighters are expected to strike for the final time in the current eight-day industrial action.
But the long-running dispute between the coalition government and the Fire Brigades Union over pensions is still unresolved.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that normal cover had been resumed after a two-hour lunchtime strike today (Saturday 16 August).
It said: “Contingency crews were on duty and attended one incident which turned out to be a false alarm.”
A further strike is scheduled to take place tonight from 10.59pm to 11.59pm.
The fire service urged people to take extra care during this time.
