Brighton off-licence boss fined for selling drink to under-age customer
Brighton off-licence boss Mikail Arslan has been fined by magistrates for selling drink to an under-age customer.
Arslan, 35, was caught selling drink to a 17-year-old at the Wine Centre, in Warren Way, Woodingdean, on Tuesday 18 February.
He admitted the offence when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.
He was fined £187 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge, making £292 in total.
The bench said that the defendant’s guilty plea had been taken into account when the sentence was imposed.
The court also considered whether to forfeit or suspend Arslan’s personal licence but did not feel that it was appropriate as it was his first offence.
