Charity race day raises thousands to support Brighton school

Racegoers dug deep to raise thousands of pounds for a Brighton school.

The special race day at Brighton Racecourse was organised by housing firm Mears to raise money for City Academy Whitehawk.

Teachers at the school in East Brighton – which serves one of the city’s most deprived areas – welcomed the windfall which would go towards funding a brunch club and supporting outdoor activity events for pupils.
