Idlewild

Having taken a five year hiatus before this short acoustic tour, a large part of me was worried about whether Idlewild’s back catalogue would still sound relevant, or remotely gratifying. Thankfully, I had absolutely nothing to worry about – the band’s songs suited the stripped back and intimate setting better than anybody could have imagined, creating a host of truly beautiful moments. The folk arrangements throughout their career-spanning set shone a new light onto the material, highlighting the band’s subtle complexity superbly and giving Roddy Woomble’s voice the perfect platform to soar in a way it never has before.
