New Movement Collective: Casting Traces

Critics Circle nominated company New Movement Collective (NMC) radically reimagine the former flower market on
Circus Street to create a promenade performance set within a giant paper maze.

Inspired by Paul Auster’s seminal novel The New York Trilogy, the maze is designed by Danish architect Elin Eyborg and allows an audience to become directly involved with the transformation of their surroundings.

Touching on the popular themes of detective novels and the modern issues of ever-present surveillance, projection and live camera feeds enable participants to meet themselves around every corner as they explore and watch the action from any angle.

The performance blends architecture, performance, live music and film and is a totally unique dance experience, not to be missed.

New Movement Collective (NMC) was founded in 2009, blurring the boundaries between dance and architecture, its members have a shared history working as acclaimed dancers and dance-makers through many of Europe’s leading ballet and contemporary companies.
