Three Brighton burglary suspects charged

A 16-year-old girl from Brighton has been charged with burglary and bailed to appear in court.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of breaking into a house in The Highway in Moulsecoomb on Tuesday 5 August.

After her arrest by Sussex Police she was released on to appear in court in Brighton on Tuesday 18 November.

She is one of three people to have been arrested on suspicion of burglary from Brighton or in relation to break-ins in Brighton as part of Operation Magpie, the force said. Operation Magpie targets burglars.

A 26-year-old man, Craig White, from Thornton Heath, south London, was held on suspicion of a burglary in Gardner Street, Brighton, on Wednesday 9 July. He has since been bailed.

A 25-year-old man, Billy Aylott, of Chesham Street, Kemp Town, has been charged with a burglary in Rye on Monday 23 June.

He also faces charges of stealing a car, dangerous driving, criminal damage, assaulting a police officer, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

Aylott was ordered to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Monday 8 September.

Anyone with information about burglaries is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.

Anyone who sees a burglary taking place should 999 immediately.

The force said: “Residents are also being encouraged to register their items on the world’s largest property database so that if they are stolen, they can be reunited with the owners and so the offenders can be prosecuted.”
