Brighton Marina: Kirsty Pollard on Brighton Marina Open Swim, taking place in the inner harbour on Sunday 7th September
New to the centre, making its debut on 7 September, is the Brighton Marina Open Swim. An open-water swimming event that features two distances, 2km for the experienced swimmer and a 500m swim, for people dipping their toe into open-water swimming for the first time.
The swim takes place inside the inner harbour. The water is controlled and unaffected by anything but the most extreme weather.
The course runs alongside the iconic white cliffs and the undercliff walk which provides a great vantage point to watch the swim. Both distances are two-lap affairs and, uniquely to open water events, swimmers are never out of eyesight from spectators, enabling you to walk alongside and support your chosen swimmer if desired.
The swim is open to both wetsuited and non-wetsuited swimmers.
The start and finish are in front of Marina Square, meaning you are well placed to refuel and enjoy the many facilities available in the centre as soon as you’re finished.
Grab your goggles, hat and suit and come and check out our new event.
Entry is available right up to the day, visit www.brightonsports.co.uk/brighton-marina-open-water-swim for entry and more details.
