Celebcity: Pride 2014 funds, Katie’s cat fight, Breakout Festival, & Carne Griffiths’ solo art show
A Pride with purpose
So we all know that Pride 2014 was widely acknowledged as the biggest, best, most exuberant Pride celebration the city of Brighton and Hove has ever seen. With more than 60 parade entries and over 100 acts performing live in Preston Park, 2014 will go down in history as the Pride you just had to be at.
Well, now there’s even more reason to celebrate and be proud, because the team at Pride Community Interest Company (CIC) have announced they are donating a staggering £64,578 to the Rainbow Fund, which will be distributed to LGBT organisations via their grants programme. Pride CIC have donated £1 per ticket sold for the Pride Festival, the Pledge Wristbands for the Village Party, also from many other Pride fundraising activities.
Pride CIC Managing Director, Paul Kemp, said: “Brighton Pride is the UK’s biggest Pride festival and we are incredibly proud that we have raised more than £107,000 over the past two years for the Rainbow Fund. Supporting LBGT charities and good causes is the cornerstone of Pride, and really shows that Brighton Pride 2014 was a ‘Pride with purpose’.
“We would like to thank all of our sponsors and partners and every single person who supported each of the Pride events in 2014, making this donation possible, and hope even more local businesses will come on board next year to help us raise even more for local good causes.”
Paul Elgood, Chairman of the Rainbow Fund, thanked the Pride organisers, saying: “We are grateful that Pride have asked us again this year to allocate the funding raised. The continued success of Brighton Pride gives a massive boost to the local LGBT and HIV voluntary sector, and this huge sum will make a tremendous difference for community groups working locally. Without the tireless work of the Pride organisers in making the event such a success, this money would simply not be available to the community. Thank you to the organisers!”

The Katie Price/Jane Poutney drama continues to rumble on via social media, with Ms Price posting a picture of an anniversary card sent by her former friend to the couple on their first wedding anniversary, wishing them “many more amazing years together”. Breakout Festival
For all you rock and metal lovers out there, your dreams are about to come true.
This month, Brighton will get its very first outdoor rock festival, Breakout, which takes place at Brighton Racecourse on Saturday 27 September.

Carne Griffiths
This Friday sees the opening of ‘Origins’ – the solo show of amazing artist Carne Griffiths at Ink_d Gallery on North Road in Brighton.
