Table Manners
This excellent comedy of manners is set during a weekend when family must come together and endure each other’s company through a set of excruciating meals. The seasoned cast are a delight as they deftly portray disparate characters who are trapped within their limited emotional frameworks; the more awkward the moment, the funnier the proceedings. Extra mirth comes from being set in 1974, so we can enjoy the funky sounds and fashion frightmares of the seventies. Part of the prolific Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Norman Conquest trilogy’ of comedies, the script serves up big laughs and leaves you hungry to see the rest.
