Heroic Brighton teenager detains arrested man on run from police
A sixteen year old teenager has been praised by police for wrestling an arrested man to the ground.
As this footage shows, Kiya Ingham sprang into action after a topless man under arrest pushed two police officers to the ground.
The man – Bradley Jay Hughes – then tried to flea along Lewes Road in Brighton.
But Kiya, who was simply walking past, lept on the man and help the officers detain him.
Despite being threatened and abused by the detained man, Kiya maintained calm – and helped direct other officers to help.
Police praised the teen for his incredible bravery after he continued to assist the officers while other members of the public simply walked by.
He is now being considered for a Pride of Britain award.
Hughes has been convicted of two accounts of assaulting a police officer and sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
