Cloudbusting

For those of us who didn’t get tickets for Kate Bush (that’s pretty much all of us, right?) this was a chance to have at least something of the experience of this woman’s work, live. Cloudbusting is able to deliver moments of pleasure replicating Kate’s first gig in the seventies, via instances of small circus (the band walking on wearing bike lights) and it helps that the set is mainly pre-Ariel. As for Mandy Watson – the voice of Kate – she’s remarkable, a genuine gateway to Kate’s own sound while allowing just enough of her own engaging personality to peek through.
