Travellers return to Preston Park in Brighton

Travellers have set up a camp in Preston Park. Brighton and Hove City Council said: “We will be visiting this site with the police as soon as practicable to carry out a community impact assessment to determine the most appropriate course of action.”

Yesterday (Thursday 25 September) the council obtained a possession order from Brighton County Court to evict travellers from Wild Park in Moulsecoomb.

The council and Sussex Police are also working together to evict a group and their vans from a patch of downland next to Devil’s Dyke Road, Brighton, close to the A27.

In an update the council said on its website: “Unauthorised encampment of travellers on land at Preston Park – we will be visiting this site with the police as soon as practicable to carry out a community impact assessment to determine the most appropriate course of action.

“Unauthorised encampment of van dwellers on land adjacent to Devil’s Dyke Road – we have successfully applied to the county court for a possession order and are in the process of arranging an eviction, should the occupants fail to leave the site voluntarily.
