A Dangerous Corner

J. B. Priestley’s play is set in the thirties during an evening when a group of sophisticated, high-society types come together, almost exactly one year after the suicide of one of their close knit group. An accidental slip sets in motion an unforgettable night, where all manner of truths come tumbling out. Everyone knows secrets about everyone else and how to use them as weapons. This is like Mike Leigh’s ‘Secrets and Lies’, but with better clothes. The pick of some very good performances is Kim Thomson as Olwen Peel, whose glacial beauty belies her inner turmoil.
