Showstopper! – The Improvised Musical

I’ve seen many improv acts; this lot are the best, and by a distance too. They don’t rely on pre-rehearsed pieces with a shoe-horned reference. It is made up, on the spot, using just their immense talent and a trust that the other performers can go with whatever flow is thrown at them. The ‘producer’ garners ideas for an improvised musical from the audience, but also has the ability to manipulate proceedings if he thinks the piece is going off the boil or it needs spicing up. It’s a great concept (Mozart can sit cheek-by-jowl with Sondheim) executed with a level of comedic prowess which is second to none. I laughed till I hurt. Awesome.
