Brighton woman fined for racist outburst

A 55-year-old Brighton woman has been sentenced by magistrates for a racist outburst in a fast-food outlet close to her home.

Susan Best, of Blackmore Court, Kingscote Way, Brighton, was given a community order and fined £250 at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.

Best pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Kansaikou Jobarteh in the London Road branch of KFC.

She accepted that Mr Jobarteh was justified in fearing that she would become violent and she admitted that the offence was racially aggravated.

Best was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £60 victim surcharge and £120 prosecution costs.
