Thousands of NHS workers go on strike over pay

Thousands of health workers went on strike today as part of a dispute over the pay.

Workers downed tools for four hours to picket outside buildings, such as the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The walkout was down to pay – with workers unhappy at the one per cent pay offer from the government.

But ministers claimed any rise above this would see jobs lost.
