Controversial councillor defends food bank ban comments

A councillor has hit back after sparking controversy for claiming food banks were being abused.

Dawn Barnett, a Conservative councillor for Hangleton and Knoll, hit the headlines after suggesting not everyone receiving handouts required the support.

But, speaking exclusively to Latest TV’s James Dunham, the Conservative councillor claimed her words were taken out of context – adding she had seen the system abused first-hand when she had given a resident a lift.
