How To Dress Well

How To Dress Well (the pseudonym of Tom Krell) is a hard to categorise blend of pop, r’n’b and indie that has mutated from hazier, trendier beginnings into full blown r’n’b songs. He is a fantastic frontman, using two mics to alternate between straight and reverbed vocals, confidently chatting to the crowd and leading his backing band. Laptops, guitar, keyboards, drums and more built up some rich textures and his voice was strong, soulful and thankfully high in the mix. Such earnestness and focus on his crooning voice can draw criticism from more cynical commentators, but Krell’s sincerity and passion was refreshing and exciting for the enthusiastic audience.
