Community and voluntary stars of Brighton and Hove celebrated
The winners of the annual sector star awards, which rewards the contributions of volunteers and staff who change lives in Brighton and Hove every day, were announced last night.
Winners in the twelve categories were honoured for their amazing community and voluntary activity, in a star studded ceremony organised by Community Works.
The awards, now in their third year, were judged by a panel drawn from local public agencies, businesses and the local community.
The ceremony was attended by over 200 people, including guests from Brighton and Hove City Council, the Police Crime Commissioners office, and local businesses, and was hosted by local comedian, Zoe Lyons.
Twelve awards were presented to young and adult volunteers and to community workers and organisations across Brighton and Hove, in recognition of their dedication and their achievements in changing lives and making the city a better place.
Sally Polanski, CEO of Community Works, said: “The awards were a huge success and a fantastic opportunity to highlight the dedication, creativity and talent of those who work tirelessly every day to improve lives in the city.”
“Thank you to the judges and to Zoe Lyons for their involvement, and to everyone who attended and made the evening a success. It was wonderful to celebrate the amazing community and voluntary activity that takes place in our city every day.”
