Brighton and Hove Buses drivers’ strikes suspended

Logo busesTwo days of strikes by drivers working for Brighton and Hove Buses have been suspended after talks with the trade union Unite.

The bus company said: “Following further extensive discussions with Unite the Union, Brighton and Hove Buses are advising customers that industrial action has been suspended and there will be no industrial action on Saturday 15 and Wednesday 19 November.

“The discussions between the company and the trade union, which concluded today, have led to an improved offer to the 919 drivers and engineers at the company.

“The revised offer is going to ballot with Unite members over the next few days with a recommendation from the trade union.

“The result of the ballot is expected to be announced on Thursday 20 November.”

Martin Harris, managing director of Brighton and Hove Buses, said: “We have had challenging but constructive negotiations with Unite over the last two days.

“I am delighted that we are able to advise customers that services will operate as normal this weekend and next week.

“I am optimistic that this dispute will soon be settled.”
