Fascinating Aida

I was new to this act but I’ve got to say they blew me away. On the face of it, it all seemed a bit Women’s Institute; three glamorously dressed ladies, a grand piano … I was half expecting a soaring rendition of Jerusalem. And then they opened their mouths. Imagine Victoria Wood but with the vocabulary of Frankie Boyle. And yet with the biting satire and downright silliness came songs of charm and tenderness. From subjects as diverse as gender realignment, first dates and the HSE to Ryan-Air and Tesco, it really was a smorgasbord of styles and talent. Potty mouths they might have, but it’s never gratuitous. Brilliant.
