The Trench
Where do the horrors of being in a trench begin and end, especially when you’ve been buried alive trying to blow up the enemy? Whilst Eric is buried, the lines of reality and dreams are blurred. Is he hallucinating? Has he just accepted a deal with the devil? Has he just been knocked out?
This was a fantastic production bringing to life the true horrors of the First World War. Each prop used to the full, every word examined and delivered to bring maximum impact. The original music (mostly played live) and puppetry really propelled this piece of theatre above the norm. Physical, unrelenting yet poignant. Mesmerising.
