Erasure

Nearly thirty years into a distinguished career, this synth-pop duo showed they still have the ability to get a crowd into the party spirit. Camp as ever, singer Andy Bell and the somewhat less showy ex-Depeche Mode keyboardist Vince Clarke bashed out a massively enjoyable greatest hits set, punctuated by eminently danceable clubby numbers from new LP ‘The Violet Flame’. Old favourites such as ‘Sometimes’, ‘Blue Savannah’ and the truly anthemic ‘A Little Respect’ were predictably great, though with a back catalogue as strong as Erasure’s, there was never too long a wait between irresistible pop hooks.
