Paloma Faith

The clean white lines of the three tiered ’60s-style set pleasingly distributed the top class musicians across the stage. This Friday night performance at the Brighton Centre was part of the Perfect Contradiction Tour, showcasing the album released in the spring including her big hits ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ and ‘I Just Can’t Rely On You’.

Paloma kicked off the show with her soulful and incredibly powerful vocals, and killer white stilettos, by marching around the stage navigating stairs, leads and enthusiast musicians. Credit to the lighting and sound technicians who lit and balanced the stage skilfully, managing the wall of sound and visual treats that were the band.

This album is full of very catchy toe-tapping party pop numbers as well as her trademark soulful stylings. It has to be noted that the majority of the evening’s extravagant energy was emanating from the three incredibly soulful and energetic barefooted backing vocalists. Despite being peppered across the space, Paloma and her exceptional band delivered a tight, playful and engaging show that oozed fun and energy.
