Catfish and the Bottlemen
Given the current dearth of young guitar bands, it’s refreshing to see a band packed full of a gleeful raw energy filling a venue like the Concorde 2. Support act Honeyblood set the tone brilliantly, rattling through a surprisingly engaging set in impressive style, before the much-hyped headliners took to the stage. Despite being hindered by an extremely bass heavy soundmix, they delighted their clearly fanatical fans, prompting the type of mass sing-alongs usually reserved for arena-rock bands. They’re clearly still very rough around the edges and lacking much depth or sophistication, but these lads may well be destined for a bigger stage.
