Brighton Festival Chorus: Christmas Concert

The BFC were joined by the London Gala Orchestra and the Brighton Festival Youth Choir, whose rendition of Britten’s Ceremony of Carols was impressively loud and delicately layered. The afternoon was a successful mix of choral crowd favourites, the odd singalong, jokes, instrumental numbers and more. Thankfully there were also some refreshing modern surprises on the bill, including the stunningly beautiful and mournful Lux Aurumque from Eric Whitacre. Andrew Rupp was a fun and commanding soloist, his rich and bassy baritone truly shining in Cornelius’ The Three Kings. A warm, musical, enjoyable and communal Christmassy afternoon at the Dome.
