Burglars steal cash and goods from Brighton charity shop
Burglars broke into a charity shop in London Road, Brighton, and stole stock and taking, Sussex Police said.
The thieves broke into the British Red Cross Society’s shop between 6.30pm on Wednesday (17 December) and 8.30am yesterday (Thursday 18 December).
Shocked staff, most of whom are volunteers, arrived for work to find goods and money missing and extensive damage throughout the shop. About £400 was stolen.
PC Samantha Candy, of the local Neighbourhood Response Team, said: “This was a truly saddening incident, particularly at Christmas time when charities such as the Red Cross are working so hard to help needy people.
“It’s been a real setback for the shop and I hope anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has other information about this burglary will come forward and help us to identify the offenders.”
Anyone able to help is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555111.
