Welcome to Brighton’s newest cosy corner. Grow 40 is all about local, homegrown produce – we grow or produce goods with our own green fingers, at our own property – we even have our own herb garden on the roof! We water it, weed it and crop it every day. The winter months of course slow us down, but come the spring we will be back at our strongest; being able to offer our own homegrown rocket and herbs will be merely a snapshot of what we can do.
We are situated in the heart of Brighton’s vibrant, buzzing North Laine, so that alone has its charm.
We grow and pick our very own herbs and leaves … you can’t get more local than that!
Diners can enjoy a three course meal or simply come and relax over a glass of wine, a local cheeseboard or our South Coast Charcuterie Board produced by Alan Barttlet; charcuterie that is totally British and very original in both taste and quality. A number of top chefs – who discovered Alan first – are featuring his array of cured produce, and we ourselves are proud to bring him to Brighton to show off the best of his British coppa and lomo.
Our aim is to source our ingredients from independent or local suppliers wherever possible and we grow and pick our very own herbs and leaves, when the seasons permit. You can’t get more local than that!
And here’s something for the wine lovers too … not only do we have over 300 wines on site to taste and enjoy but we also have a sommelier, or wine specialist, on hand. Steve, who is one of the founders of Grow 40, has created a wine club behind the scenes, and is always happy to assist with wine tastings or wine matching, just to add that little bit of ‘vino’ touch to the Grow 40 experience. You can come and enjoy a cosy evening or afternoon with your favourite bottle, and if you are passionate about wine we can even enrol you into our Wine Club (limited numbers only), with access to our private ‘members only’ wine snug on the top floor.
Wanting something fun to do with friends? We’ve got lots going on in 2015! We’ll be hosting monthly wine tastings and food demos for groups of eight or more where you can come and try wines from around the world, expertly matched with some of our dishes, and you can meet our Chef Patron Mickael Blanchett, who trained with The Pig Hotel Group for two years and worked under James Golding. He is passionate about everything British, and local. Discover our food, get up close and personal and learn about dish preparation before tucking in … with your selected wines!
Grow 40 can cater for private dinner parties, champagne and canapé receptions and special events too. We have the space, and we hope to fulfil the demand for relaxed surroundings, professional quality and original style!
