Work starts on improving Brighton’s North Street

Work began today on improving Brighton’s North Street for pedestrians.

Contractors are set to lay new pavements and plant trees to make the busy street more friendly for people walking.

But after two accidents on the road in recent weeks, some have suggested the work has come too late.

The latest was on Saturday afternoon when a man was taken to hospital after being struck by a Brighton and Hove bus at about 2.30pm.
