Sir Chris Bonington
It’s hard not to like Sir Chris. Humble, unassuming, demure even. Yet over the course of his two hour talk/lecture it becomes evident that this man has done extraordinary things in the world of mountaineering. If there was a tick list of mountains to climb he’s pretty much ticked them all, and sometimes several times over. By its very nature, mountaineering is a struggle and sometimes humans come off second best, as was evident by the amount of colleagues he had lost over his many expeditions. That there weren’t more is minor miracle. It’s accepted but never down played by Sir Chris. Emotional, inspiring and a thoroughly decent bloke.
