Withering Looks
Essentially a ‘Bronte For Dummies’ or ‘Bitesize Bronte’ (copywrite pending!), as if the lives and works of The Brontes was performed by a mental offshoot of the Women’s Institute. But it’s good fun and deserved more of an audience. Performers Sue Ryding and Maggie Fox providedĀ a true smorgasbord of storytelling and comic styles/vehicles; the ghosts of the Moors, Wuthering Heights reduced to a 30 second paper cut out show, Anne Bronte as a tiny hand puppet. Ludicrously eccentric but played very dryly to accentuate the humour. The biting satire gave it that little fizz too. Cleverly put together and performed to a sharp degree. Give it a go.
