King Creosote
By the sea is where King Creosote is at home.
And so it proved to be when he made a surprising appearance at Shoreham’s Ropetackle Arts Centre.
Surprising as while the king loves a trip to the south coast it’s normally Brighton where he features.
But then again, the man who has built a small musical empire north of the border is full of surprises.
Under his alter-ego, what Kenny Anderson has achieved is nothing short of remarkable – a prolific song-writer, his heart-breaking pop-folk tunes were perfectly suited to its venue.
Totally at ease with broken bottles and instruments going out of tune, he breezed through the set list giving those fortunate enough to watch a taste of Scottish life.
Even avid followers were treated to something a little new in the 90 minute set – but then surprises are what you expect from the king.
