Hove man banned after being caught drink driving

A man from Hove has been banned from the roads after being caught drink driving.

Saul Livingstone, 42, was arrested at 11.25pm on Tuesday 9 December after officers stopped his car in Old Shoreham Road, Hove.

When he was taken to court, Livingstone, of Elm Drive, in Hangleton, pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a car, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (4 February) Livingstone was banned from driving for 12 months.

He was also made the subject of a court order, fined £100 and ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Superintendent Jane Derrick, the head of roads policing in Sussex and Surrey, said: “Drink driving is totally unacceptable and we will continue to look for and arrest motorists who continue to selfishly put road users in danger by getting behind the wheel while over the limit.”

A total of 50 people have so far been convicted after being arrested as part of Operation Dragonfly, Sussex Police’s December drink and drug driving crackdown.
