Four people from Brighton and Hove banned for drink driving

Four people from Brighton and Hove have been banned from the roads after being caught drink driving in the annual Christmas crackdown by Sussex Police.

Clayton Spry, 39, was arrested at 6.20pm on Friday 5 December in Gardner Road, Portslade, after officers were tipped off that he had been drinking.

Spry, of Gardner Road, Portslade, pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 29 January.

He was banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Danny Curtis was arrested at 12.50am on Saturday 13 December after officers stopped his van because he was driving the wrong way down one-way East Street in Brighton.

The 36-year-old was more than twice the drink-drive limit when he was breathalysed.

Curtis, of Tilbury Way, Brighton, pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 February.

He was banned from driving for 21 months and ordered to pay a £110 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Lukasz Fielek was arrested at 2.30am on Saturday 13 December after officers saw his car swerving across Ditchling Road in Brighton.

The 28-year-old was more than twice the drink-drive limit when he was breathalysed.

Fielek, of Old Shoreham Road, Hove, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without a licence when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 February.

He was banned from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay a £320 fine, £85 costs and a £24 victim surcharge.

Amy Bason was arrested at 2.30am on Sunday 21 December in Grinstead Lane, Lancing, after officers were tipped off that she was drink driving.

The 43-year-old was more than twice the drink-drive limit when she was breathalysed.

Bason, of Old Shoreham Road, Hove, pleaded guilty to drink driving when she appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 February.

She was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay a £215 fine, £85 costs and a £22 victim surcharge.

A total of 55 people have so far been convicted after being arrested during the annual December drink and drug driving crackdown.
