Be a hero with Team Macmillan
Join the Brighton Marathon, raise much-needed funds for Macmillan and help fight cancer
Marathon fever is in the air! In just over two months, one of the UK’s leading marathons is happening right here – the Brighton Marathon takes place on Sunday 12 April. Brighton Marathon’s fast, flat course takes runners through the best of our historic south coast city, showing them some glorious views of the South Downs – which is why it’s already become a popular fixture in the running calendar.
And Team Macmillan needs you! If you’ve already secured a place in the marathon, that’s fantastic, and we’d love to welcome you on to our team. All we ask in return is that you raise as much sponsorship as you can. It might not sound like a lot, but every pound raised from every step you take will make a difference to the level of service we can provide.
If you are still looking for a place in the marathon, you have until Wednesday 4 March to apply for one of Macmillan’s charity places.
There is no registration fee, just a minimum sponsorship target to raise.
We’re great at support – it’s in our name!
From the free running top we’ll send you and expert training guide that welcomes you, to our Pasta Party the night before the run, our packed cheer points along the course and our VIP post race centre offering massage and delicious post race treats, Team Macmillan will offer you exactly the support you need. And even if running’s not your thing, we’d love you to come and help us cheer on our fantastic team of runners.
“Hearing people cheer my name and wave me on gave the burst of energy I needed to keep going … seeing all those smiling faces in green t-shirts cheering me on made all the difference, it was the most amazing experience,” recalls Sarah, Team Macmillan 2014.
With the number of people living with cancer hitting 2.5 million, there is an urgent need for more Macmillan services to support them. This is where you come in. Cancer is one of the toughest fight most of us will ever face but we believe no one should have to go through it alone. The Macmillan team wants to be there every step of the way. We are the nurses and therapists helping you through treatment, the experts on the end of the phone, the advisers telling you which benefits you’re entitled to, the volunteers giving you a hand with the everyday things, the campaigners improving cancer care, the community there for you online, any time, and the supporters who make it all possible.
We need your help so we can reach as many people as possible. No one should face cancer alone, and together with your support, we’ll help ensure no-one does.
