Austentatious

The premise for this improv-comedy troupe’s show is to take a topic suggested by the audience (‘revenge of the younger sister’ in this instance) and turn it into an amusing Austen-like tale, in the garb and parlance of the times. All five performers exuded a natural sense of humour and quick wit, verbally sparring with each other in scenes that were absurd, but not too absurd, improvised and ramshackle, but not rudderless or meandering. An hour flew by, with hilarious jokes such as a surly priest bombarded with forestry miscellany, running nuns and even a genuinely funny walk. Frenetic, intelligent, riotous fun.
