Snap Shots: ‘Wheat & Beans’
This week: Fabricio and Gaston, “Wheat & Beans”

In the last seven months, a delightfully good cafe has popped up in the heart of Kemptown – Wheat & Beans at 117 St. James’ Street – run by an Argentine family where the extremely friendly Fabricio and Gaston serve customers to eat in or take away. Offering the best coffee made with freshly roasted high-quality beans from Brazil, El Salvador and India, their Argentine empanadas are truly authentic, as are Roman style pizzas, exquisite Mediterranean bites and the most delicious cakes.
“We are a family-run café in St. James’ Street, and our aim is to delight all our visitors by offering them amazing food and cakes, superb coffee and great service. We are food lovers, and are very demanding with everything we offer. It’s hard work, but also very motivating to see people enjoy themselves and leave with a big smile! Mum is the patisser, dad is the baker and my brother and myself are serving our clients. I am surprised to see how friendly and polite people in Brighton are – we must have the nicest clients in town, and that adds to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.”
The food is hand-made daily from scratch, and a lot of work goes into preparation of the mouth-watering delicious fare. The team offers a catering service for special occasions and parties, providing a range of freshly baked goods for your event. Just try their cocktail empanadas, sandwiches and home-made cakes.
