Trio Da Kali

A woman of great dignity and presence takes the stage, and with little to-do opens her mouth to unleash a voice of startling proportions. The Trio make contemporary music from the heart of the Malian griot tradition and each member of this trio is in perfect harmony with the others; aural artisanship of the most subtle and sublime magic. Generous performers who seemed to enjoy playing the music as much as we did hearing and feeling it. The Balafon solos were bordering on outrageous, and as the crowd stamped and roared until the trio came back for an encore, the energy in the room was palpable.
