How To Disappear Completely

Lighting designer Itai Erdal’s show centres around his mother’s death from lung cancer, using a mixture of filmed footage, monologue and elaborate lighting techniques. As Erdal himself mentioned, he is a great storyteller, and early parts of the show including a sexual dugong experience and his impressive knowledge of capital cities had the audience laughing. There are also moving moments of footage from his mother regarding the importance of love, and Erdal’s technique of aping his sister’s mannerisms works well too as a dramatic technique. The parts on lighting were insightful and interesting, but the show’s confused final minutes left one uncertain what one was supposed to take away from the performance.
