Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra: German Dances

Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer made for a delightful opener, with short, sprightly pieces buoyantly played and the first violins utilising distinct, individual flourishes to stunning effect. Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, K364 featured an invigorating, breathless segment with just solo violinist Veronika Eberle and viola player Antoine Tamestit contrasting a more technically impressive violin part with a richer, more melancholy viola which was stark and moving. Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 is a bit of a rhythmic, obstinate animal, which was powerful at points but the length and repetitiveness did test the audience’s patience. An enjoyable evening however and another strong, themed programme from the touring orchestra.
