Richard Herring: Lord of the Dance Settee

An innocent childhood misunderstanding of the lyrics to the hymn ‘Lord of the Dance’ spawned Richard Herring’s 13th solo tour. While previous tours have had strong themes, Lord of the Dance Settee is just about the simple things in life that make us smile. Armed only with a microphone and a bottle of water, Herring put in 90 minutes of energetic storytelling and obscure facts. The master of dry twitter humour had the audience in tears describing simple slapstick sketches because he was too old to perform them anymore. The crowning glory of the whole show, though, was an extraordinary set based purely on the question “Is your name Dave Manager, or Dave the manager?”. The laughs started to dry up towards the end of the show, but it was still thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely catch him when the tour returns to the south coast.
