Steeleye Span

If you’ve never seen Steeleye Span then I implore you to go, they are an absolute joy. One foot fully rooted in folk, the other foot wandering majestically into any music style you want. The evening could have been a morose affair, the band mourning the death of friend/collaborator Terry Pratchett. Instead it was a celebration of their association with him and the music which spawned from it. ‘The Wintersmith’ featured heavily in a set where your standard 4-4 time signature didn’t really make an appearance. Funky bass lines, heavy guitar riffs, Celtic fiddle and some jazz florets thrown in for good measure. Gloriously eclectic and a must see for all.
