Sci-fi is not often tackled on stage, presumably due to the difficulty in creating high quality special effects, which makes the success of this show all the more impressive. Centring around three large moveable circles (used for backdrop projection, live footage from cameras and spaceship parts), the staging and choreography was impressive in conveying the epic scale of space travel. Aligned with a strong concept and exciting twists, the plot was gripping with seemingly unrelated storylines woven together in a satisfying conclusion. The performances of Flora Denman’s Imke and the two brothers were endearing and emotional, always essential in combining big concepts with a human story to empathise with. A moving, ambitious, filmic, thought-provoking production.
