Pact With Pointlessness
Meshing comedy, dance and theatre, Wendy Houston’s show centred around the constant distraction of technology in our lives. Mobile phone bleeps interrupted her flow, driving her to a stranger, less linear performance. The first part of word association was a little simple and dull, but the momentum gained as the show went on. Her charming personality and good sense of comic timing shone through in moments like a memorable dance with a fire bucket, and a seemingly bumbling but strangely graceful routine in a large cardboard box. It was not an immediately stunning performance, but some aspects pleasantly flicker in the memory, reflecting on a well-crafted, thought-provoking show.
