Former councillor jailed for stabbing his wife

A former councillor has been jailed for twenty years after attempting to murder his wife.

Joseph O’Riordan stabbed Amanda O’Riordan eight times at their property in Eastbourne after finding out she was having an affair.

A hearing at Brighton Crown Court heard how the 74 year old had placed a tracking device on his wife’s car and had her followed.

During today’s sentencing Judge Shani Barnes said she didn’t feel Mr O’Riordan showed any remorse.

He was told he will serve half his sentence.
