Public Service Broadcasting

With vintage TV set totem poles framing the stage and a home-made satellite dangling between the large screens, the South London duo drafted in a little extra help for a dynamic set that covered their new space race themed album alongside their trademark public information film soundtracks. The pre-recorded banter (there was no human interaction) was funny and clever but did wear thin after a while. Throughout the set, drummer Wrigglesworth provided a powerful backbeat for the dance rock Apollo mission tunes while support act Smoke Fairies helped out on ‘Valentina’. A surprise brass section and dancing spaceman enhanced the funky encores.
